Because I've missed you :)

lime green shirt: Target, denim skirt: New York & Co, brown equestrian boots: Old Navy

It's been so long! For the past week, I've been sitting at our new home in Midland, Texas, without a vehicle, unpacking boxes and boxes and boxes... As much as I hate to admit it, these activities do not stimulate my creative outfit ideas. Though I've tried to force myself not to wear t-shirts and jeans every day, I've found that jeans are most conducive for unpacking and subsequent lounging activities. Tomorrow I'm flying back to Sugar Land to finish the rest of our packing and cleaning, so again my outfits won't be anything to write home...or my blog...about, but I hope to try a little harder. Another issues has been that my nifty photographer, Jennifer, is no longer at my beck and call...which is quite evident in these pictures!

Last week I did attempt to make a little effort and dress up my "jeans and tee" look with a denim skirt and a fitted t-shirt. Sorry for the terrible picture--I was attempting to take it, my husband was making fun of me, and I was trying to balance to show you my boots and not show you my unmentionables at the same time!

The really pathetic thing about me this week is that in my shoddy dressing state, I'm usually dying to get out of the house by 5:00 when my husband gets home...and his new job requires him to wear a fancy suit and tie EVERY day, not just on court days (well, every day is a court day) so wherever we go, he's dressed to the 9s and I'm dressed to the...well, I'll at least give myself a 3 since my clothes do not have holes in them and are at least clean!

I know Tech sucked it up again A&M last weekend (sigh) but the silver lining was that our tailgating group (that's right, I'll say OUR and claim it as partially my own) won Carpet Tech Tailgaters of the Game!!! Picture to come :)

Last Day at this Job! :)

Gray denim jeans: Express, Green sweater: Old Navy, White wife-beater: Old Navy, Brown loafers: Cato

This is my last official post as an employee of ___ Law Firm! That means that this is potentially the beginning of some scattered posts on this blog, at least until I move to Midland, and most likely until I find a job in Midland or have a reason to get "dressed". I'll be packing for at least the next week, and then unpacking for the week after that, so those activities do not often merit picture-worthy outfits.

This is the type of "sweater" you can wear in the "Autumn" in Houston. Won't be long until I'm back to brr-y West Texas temperatures, though!

Goodbye to all of those people who I've met at the firm that I've enjoyed spending time with. You really are stand-outs!

Yesterday's Post - Oxford and Pencil Skirt!

Blue Pin-Striped Oxford: Banana Republic (thrifted for $6), brown striped pencil skirt: New York & Co., brown heels: Walmart?, Orange Jewelry: Old Navy (from like 15 years ago!), brown headband: Cato

oxford and skirt @ Brittany's cleverly titled blogI just erased a paragraph where I went on a full-blown rant about Houston. There's no need. You either like it or you don't. Why should I bring it into my blog which makes me happy? I forgot to post yesterday, so you'll get two posts today!

Yesterday, I wore this blue-striped Banana Republic shirt, which I paid $6 for...I've already explained that I'm not okay with paying BR's prices for their quality of clothing, but who can argue with $6?! I took an extra picture of this skirt so that you could see the detailing on it. Sorry for the awful pictures, but I was stuck taking them by myself again :)

I'll distract you with a scarf!

khaki shirt: Old Navy
gray and silver pin-striped pants: New York & Co.
scarf: it was my Nana's
cream and black lace shoes: Fiona for Payless

gray and khaki @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled BlogI'm glad I looked cute yesterday, but I don't today. Tommy is off in Midland picking out our future house, and I'm stuck at work today tired as an ox (I imagine oxen get tired at the end of their days). He hadlace heels @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog a 7 a.m. flight this morning, so I was up at 5 a.m. to take him to the airport. I have "don't care syndrome" at 5:00 a.m., which means that it seems like a good idea to me to put on really comfy clothes and throw my hair in a ponytail instead of washing it, and put on very minimal makeup--much to my chagrin around noon that day when I'm finally awake enough to take a look in the mirror and see :egad!: what I look like.
Still haven't found anything fun to wear these shoes with, but I guess for the most part, I haven't really tried. I did want to show how well these colors all actually look together. I'm not sure if the scarf really goes, but I needed something to un-neutralize this outfit.

I'll try to make my lax look up tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be able to get some sleep and be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (my dad's phrase) in the morning :)

Brights today!

Teal green shirt: Merona, Purple pencil skirt: Express, Pink belt: Walmart?, Black Mary Janes: Lower East Side

teal and purple @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled BlogThis shirt is actually a teal green, and the skirt is that color in between cobalt blue and royal purple. They contrast in real life a lot more than they do in this picture. I love that this belt can pull any two contrasting colors together.

I bought this skirt in Lubbock for $22!! I'm on the lookout for bright colored pencil skirts right now. I don't know what I'll do if I end up at a conservative workplace in Midland. Oh, yes I do: I'll take those conservative rules and stick my tongue out at them. You can get away with dressing brightly as long as you are still dressed nice.

Besides, remember yesterday? I was in basic black! Boring!

Here's my pretty "bow headband". I'm getting my hair done tonight, so don't judge me for my roots!

Back to Humid Houston...but not for long!

Black and pink oxford: Old Navy, Black pants: Victoria's Secret, Black wedges: Merona, Diamonds: Tommy

Today's temperature in Sugar Land: 83 (heat index = 93)
Today's temperature in Lubbock: 66
Today's temperature in Midland, Texas: 63!

Why would I post Midland weather? Because I'm moving there!! Tommy and I are transferring our lives back to West Texas, where the weather is cold, the land is flat, but most importantly, the people are nice.

I can't wait to see where this leads us--hopefully to Home and Happiness!

black and pink @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blogwedgey flats @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
Today's outfit was a test for me to see if I could wear an oxford tucked into pants without a belt and not go insane. I think its working, but only because these pants have a tab buckle that creates the illusion of a belted waistline for me. These are Victoria's Secret, but a shy too short for what I've come to like, so I'm wearing them with flatter shoes. These aren't actually flats though--they have a little wedge on them!

Broke out the bling to celebrate today! :) (It's my last week of work here--lalalalalalalalalalallalalalalalallalallalalallalaklllalkjdlkoi!!!)

Dressing for hot...and cold

Leopard print mock turtleneck: Express, khaki wide-leg pants: Victoria's Secret, Cognac boots: X-Appeal, Red belt: New York & Co, Jacket: Cato

leopard print @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled BlogToday I had to dress suitably for Houston weather, plane-flying, and Lubbock weather. I'm flying to Lubbock tonight, where a cold front is coming in and its supposed to drop to 50 degrees. Currently in Sugar Land, Texas, according to weather.com, its 89 degrees, but feels like 98 degrees here. So, you can see the dressing dilemma!

cool jacket @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog Is this leopard print or cheetah print? As I've said, I love these mock turtleneck shirts from Express. They manage to make a cotton t-shirt type shirt appear dressy. I feel a little sassy today in my boots, animal print shirt, and super cool jacket. Love this freaking jacket.

Off to Raiderland tonight!!!!

Yesterday's Stripes

Gray and white striped oxford: The Limited, Dark Gray skirt: Willi Smith (TJ Maxx), Sandles: Calvin Klein, Belt: White House Black Market, Pearls: Gift from Kimberly

white stripes @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
As we were all leaving the office last night to try a new bar for Happy Hour, I realized I hadn't taken my daily outfit picture! I got Jen to snap it quickly, and off we went. Once I got home, I was busy packing because I'm flying to Lubbock tonight, and then my husband was yelling at me that he was ready to watch Glee (even though it was DVR'd and we could have watched it at any point) so I never got to post for yesterday.

You can't see the stripes very well in this shirt, but they're there. I'll wear it again, because I love wearing that oxford with white jeans in the winter. I'm thrilled with this skirt because it was snug at one point and now it is quite loose. I love these sandles, but the left one is very uncomfortable. I work through it, though, for the sake of CKs.

Browns, blacks and golds

Black polo: Mossimo (Target), Orange tie shirt: New York & Co., Brown skirt: New York & Co., Black Oxford: Predictions (Payless?); Gold belt: Vintage

blacks and browns @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
1. I'm playing with mixing browns and blacks. I haven't decided if I like it, but I think this color brown in the skirt is playing it safe--its more of a neutral brown than say a dark chocolate color would be.

2. I was so excited to buy this black polo. The vee is cut dangerously low, and I used to wear it over my swimsuit top to be particularly scandalous. And it doubles as a work shirt if you put something underneath it :)

3. I think I'm the only person who calls this undershirt Orange. Everyone else says its coral. Its not. Kimberly has the same shirt in Green. I'm not sure if its Lime Green or Ocean Green or Blue Green but its definitely Green. Mine is definitely Orange.

4. I love this belt from my Nana. It is amazing and has gotten me to wear gold more often.

5. These shoes are great. I wish the heel wasn't quite so high, but they are so fun to wear. I can't wait to pair them with tights this winter.

Banana Republic day!

Light blue oxford: Banana Republic (thrifted), khaki pants: Banana Republic, brown loafers: Cato, belt: stolen from Tommy, socks: New York & Co.

brittany in banana @ brittany's cleverly titled blog
I normally dislike Banana Republic. I like their styles, but I think they are overpriced for just being an older version of Gap and Old Navy. I bought these pants on sale from their website, though, and I love the way they fit (and they're long enough!). This weekend I went thrift store shopping and cleaned up on oxfords. I got this BR oxford new with tags for $6.00. Nice. I didn't think it was see-through, but now I'm wondering. There are actually holes in the shirt for what looks like lace. What does it say about me that I'm just realizing this at 2:3o in the afternoon?

Jennifer wanted a picture of my socks. We are pretending its Fall here in Houston even though its 85 degrees and sunny.

We won! And its not raining!!

Black sparkly knitted sweater: New York & Co., Green t-shirt: Target, Jeans: Express, Boots: Target, Lucky Necklace: Gift from Ginny

I wore two key accessories today for different reasons: my rain boots because when I left my house this morning it was dark and wet and rainy) and my lucky necklace for Josh's trial. The rain boots were a big bust because today is the most beautiful day we've had since moving to the Houston area--its 80 degrees and only 43% humidity and sunny, sunny, sunny! My lucky necklace, however, worked as well as usual because the jury came back today with our verdict and we won!! With a jury I helped pick--yea!
Otherwise, I was dressing for court all week, so I went a little casual today. Plus, I didn't fix my hair because Hello! It was supposed to be rainy!!

Jury Trial Day 2, Jury Trial Day 3

Day 2: Purple 3/4 sleeve shirt: Target, Gray Jacket: Norma Kamali (Walmart), Gray and pink pin-striped pants: New York & Co; Black Loafers: Etienne Aigner; Black silver-buckled belt: New York & Co.

I wore this yesterday but never posted it up. I wanted to wear pants on the second day, and I'm really glad I did because I was on the floor some trying to work a projector and DVD player (not so ladylike to be squatting on the floor in a skirt).

Day 3: Red mock-turtleneck shirt: Express, Black and white skirt: Express, Black jacket: Cato, Black mary jane heels: Lower East Side (Payless)

I wanted to be a little more girly than I was yesterday, so I wore a flouncy pencil skirt. I'm back at the office now, but the jury is still out. Lauren (clerk) and I left Josh at the courthouse to receive the Big Verdict. We'll see if its a happy day for the Firm :)

Jury Trial: Day 1

Pink printed silk shirt: New York & Co., Black skirt: Express, Black blazer: The Limited, Pink & Black bow heels: Liz Claiborne

I didn't get to put this post up yesterday--I'm a day behind. Yesterday, I was in downtown Houston for a trial with my boss. It was quite fun! I went back again today, but I haven't taken pics of my outfit yet.

I was happy with my hair and took a picture, but its kind of falling apart in this picture (it had been 12 hours since the original ponytail!)

Torquoise and coral (black as an accessory!)

Coral 3/4 sleeve top: Ann Taylor; Torquoise skirt: New York & Co.; Black belt: Free with some skirt; Headband: Old Navy; Jacket: Cato; Black shoes: Lower East Side (Payless)

I'm still getting over my illness caused by the terrible way Texas Tech played on Saturday night against the University of Houston. To all my U of H friends, I'm very happy that y'all kept your winning streak going, I just wish it was at the cost of Tech. I feel a little better by getting that off my chest.

I bought this skirt this weekend for $11 and my only regret is that they didn't have the purple one in my size :( I love everything about it--its beautiful and bright and comfortable.

I also like the torquoise and coral together. I think it looks bright and fun, but the black accessories calm it down a little.

Double Dose of Pink

Pink dolman sleeve shirt: New York & Co; Skinny Jeans: Express; Red belt: New York & Co; Necklace: 10/20 Boutique; Boots: Old Navy

My day started off incredibly boring, and has now become insanely busy. I'm at a stopping point right now, though, so I wanted to put this up.

I'm so excited that I took the time to read my shirt definitions and know that this shirt sleeve is a called a Dolman Sleeve. It means that the armhole is very wide and the wrist is skinny.

I jumped all over the Equestrian boot trend from last season because, as I've mentioned, I'm quite tall, and these boots are flat. I was going to buy a really expensive pair, but fell in love with this $45 pair I found at Old Navy, of all places.

And now, a special post--for most of this week I haven't been taking my own pictures. I want to post on Wardrobe Remix which requires that you show your whole outfit--including your shoes--and you know that's been a problem for me in the bathroom mirror! My lovely co-worker Jennifer volunteered (okay, it may not have been so much voluntary on her part so much as me saying, "Hey, you have a hand! Take a picture of me!!") And since we're both in pink today, its the perfect time to show her lovely face:

Proper Silhouette

Pink and gray pin-striped oxford - The Limited; Gray wide-leg pants - New York & Co.; Pink & Black heels - Liz Claiborne; Pearls - Tommy/Nana.

proper silhouette @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I made an attempt correct yesterday's outfit by wearing some loose, wide-legged gray pants with a fitted oxford and showing what a proper silhouette should look like. I tried to look cute in my picture, so my pants look larger than they actual are, but they are super comfpink bow heels @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blogortable. I like the large hem at the bottom of them, and I make a point to wear at least some heel with them to balance it out.

Otherwise, my outfit is cute but boring. I love these shoes, and I'm not very creative with them. Luckily, I have a zillion pink shirts to pull them off with. Any suggestions as to what other colors I could wear them with? I can work bright colors against each other, but I don't know if two pastels on the color spectrum can be pulled off in the same way. I'll do some research on the subject.

P.S. I discovered that I have a lot of clothes with BOWS!!

A "Don't" Fashion Lesson

Red blouse - New York & Co.; Black tank top - Old Navy; Black bow skirt - Cato; Black sparkly mules - Dusty's; "Britt" necklace - Gift from Brandon

chinese looking shirt @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

(Please ignore my bad case of beaver teeth)

I really hoped this outfit would look cuter when I laid it out last night, but that's what I get for not trying it on first. I've been coming to work early every morning, some I'm quite bleary-eyed while getting dressed, so I'd like to think I can't be blamed for putting together this unflattering pairing.

bad bow tying @ Brittany's Cleverly titled blog

(More bad bow tying for you!)

There are very clear rules for dressing to flatter your silhouette, and the basic one is:

If you wear something loose on bottom, wear something fitted on top, and vice-versa.

I'm clearly breaking this rule today.Britt necklace @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

The only good thing about this outfit is that I sparkled up my necklace my brother gave me and it looks as shiny and new as the day I received it. He knows me well. Of course I want to proclaim my name around my neck!

1st Day of Fall

And since Autumn is Lauren's favorite month and we started this fad/trend together, I dedicate this post to her :)

Pink & Gray Argyle shirt - Rue 21; White polo shirt - Old Navy; Black pants - Express; Pink Trench - Fillmore Studio; Rain boots - Target; Headband - Lacoste; Umbrella - Cynthia Rowley for Avon (gift from Ginny)

I was so happy to hear that it was supposed to be rainy ALL day today. Most of the time when I break out my rainboots, the day starts off mucky and yucky and wet and then clears up to a sunny 85 degrees by the end of the day, and I'm tromping home in giant galoshes in the sunshine. Not today though. Rain, rain, all day!

I'm willing to risk the bad luck on this one:

Hungry (for a $3 skirt)?

Mustard yellow shirt - New York & Co; White Sleeveless shirt - Walmart; Gray skirt - Target/Goodwill; Yellow heels - Anne Klein; Sash - New York & Co.

I skipped lunch today to make up for some of my time I've missed here at work due to various emergencies. I get quite grumpy when I skip lunch--just be warned! (But this picture was taken prior to that!)

Brittany in a bubble skirt @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
This skirt was a great Lesson in Life for me. I debated paying $27yellow Anne Klein shoes @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog for it at Target...over and over again until finally they didn't offer it anymore, and I sulked in depression because I didn't buy it. A few weeks later I went to Goodwill and found it brand-new with the tags still on for $3. Haha! I really like the shape of it!

This sash is from a dress I bought a few months ago that I've yet to wear. Goal: Wear that dress in the next month. And I know my shoes match perfectly. I know its cheesy to do that, but I really can't help myself!

P.S. I know we didn't beat Texas on Saturday, but at least we showed up to the game! I was very proud of my Red Raiders and know we're going to beat up on U of H this weekend!!
