Jury Trial: Day 1

Pink printed silk shirt: New York & Co., Black skirt: Express, Black blazer: The Limited, Pink & Black bow heels: Liz Claiborne

I didn't get to put this post up yesterday--I'm a day behind. Yesterday, I was in downtown Houston for a trial with my boss. It was quite fun! I went back again today, but I haven't taken pics of my outfit yet.

I was happy with my hair and took a picture, but its kind of falling apart in this picture (it had been 12 hours since the original ponytail!)

Torquoise and coral (black as an accessory!)

Coral 3/4 sleeve top: Ann Taylor; Torquoise skirt: New York & Co.; Black belt: Free with some skirt; Headband: Old Navy; Jacket: Cato; Black shoes: Lower East Side (Payless)

I'm still getting over my illness caused by the terrible way Texas Tech played on Saturday night against the University of Houston. To all my U of H friends, I'm very happy that y'all kept your winning streak going, I just wish it was at the cost of Tech. I feel a little better by getting that off my chest.

I bought this skirt this weekend for $11 and my only regret is that they didn't have the purple one in my size :( I love everything about it--its beautiful and bright and comfortable.

I also like the torquoise and coral together. I think it looks bright and fun, but the black accessories calm it down a little.

Double Dose of Pink

Pink dolman sleeve shirt: New York & Co; Skinny Jeans: Express; Red belt: New York & Co; Necklace: 10/20 Boutique; Boots: Old Navy

My day started off incredibly boring, and has now become insanely busy. I'm at a stopping point right now, though, so I wanted to put this up.

I'm so excited that I took the time to read my shirt definitions and know that this shirt sleeve is a called a Dolman Sleeve. It means that the armhole is very wide and the wrist is skinny.

I jumped all over the Equestrian boot trend from last season because, as I've mentioned, I'm quite tall, and these boots are flat. I was going to buy a really expensive pair, but fell in love with this $45 pair I found at Old Navy, of all places.

And now, a special post--for most of this week I haven't been taking my own pictures. I want to post on Wardrobe Remix which requires that you show your whole outfit--including your shoes--and you know that's been a problem for me in the bathroom mirror! My lovely co-worker Jennifer volunteered (okay, it may not have been so much voluntary on her part so much as me saying, "Hey, you have a hand! Take a picture of me!!") And since we're both in pink today, its the perfect time to show her lovely face:

Proper Silhouette

Pink and gray pin-striped oxford - The Limited; Gray wide-leg pants - New York & Co.; Pink & Black heels - Liz Claiborne; Pearls - Tommy/Nana.

proper silhouette @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I made an attempt correct yesterday's outfit by wearing some loose, wide-legged gray pants with a fitted oxford and showing what a proper silhouette should look like. I tried to look cute in my picture, so my pants look larger than they actual are, but they are super comfpink bow heels @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blogortable. I like the large hem at the bottom of them, and I make a point to wear at least some heel with them to balance it out.

Otherwise, my outfit is cute but boring. I love these shoes, and I'm not very creative with them. Luckily, I have a zillion pink shirts to pull them off with. Any suggestions as to what other colors I could wear them with? I can work bright colors against each other, but I don't know if two pastels on the color spectrum can be pulled off in the same way. I'll do some research on the subject.

P.S. I discovered that I have a lot of clothes with BOWS!!

A "Don't" Fashion Lesson

Red blouse - New York & Co.; Black tank top - Old Navy; Black bow skirt - Cato; Black sparkly mules - Dusty's; "Britt" necklace - Gift from Brandon

(Please ignore my bad case of beaver teeth)

I really hoped this outfit would look cuter when I laid it out last night, but that's what I get for not trying it on first. I've been coming to work early every morning, some I'm quite bleary-eyed while getting dressed, so I'd like to think I can't be blamed for putting together this unflattering pairing.

bad bow tying @ Brittany's Cleverly titled blog

(More bad bow tying for you!)

There are very clear rules for dressing to flatter your silhouette, and the basic one is:

If you wear something loose on bottom, wear something fitted on top, and vice-versa.

I'm clearly breaking this rule today.Britt necklace @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

The only good thing about this outfit is that I sparkled up my necklace my brother gave me and it looks as shiny and new as the day I received it. He knows me well. Of course I want to proclaim my name around my neck!

1st Day of Fall

And since Autumn is Lauren's favorite month and we started this fad/trend together, I dedicate this post to her :)

Pink & Gray Argyle shirt - Rue 21; White polo shirt - Old Navy; Black pants - Express; Pink Trench - Fillmore Studio; Rain boots - Target; Headband - Lacoste; Umbrella - Cynthia Rowley for Avon (gift from Ginny)

I was so happy to hear that it was supposed to be rainy ALL day today. Most of the time when I break out my rainboots, the day starts off mucky and yucky and wet and then clears up to a sunny 85 degrees by the end of the day, and I'm tromping home in giant galoshes in the sunshine. Not today though. Rain, rain, all day!

I'm willing to risk the bad luck on this one:

Hungry (for a $3 skirt)?

Mustard yellow shirt - New York & Co; White Sleeveless shirt - Walmart; Gray skirt - Target/Goodwill; Yellow heels - Anne Klein; Sash - New York & Co.

I skipped lunch today to make up for some of my time I've missed here at work due to various emergencies. I get quite grumpy when I skip lunch--just be warned! (But this picture was taken prior to that!)

Brittany in a bubble skirt @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
This skirt was a great Lesson in Life for me. I debated paying $27yellow Anne Klein shoes @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog for it at Target...over and over again until finally they didn't offer it anymore, and I sulked in depression because I didn't buy it. A few weeks later I went to Goodwill and found it brand-new with the tags still on for $3. Haha! I really like the shape of it!

This sash is from a dress I bought a few months ago that I've yet to wear. Goal: Wear that dress in the next month. And I know my shoes match perfectly. I know its cheesy to do that, but I really can't help myself!

P.S. I know we didn't beat Texas on Saturday, but at least we showed up to the game! I was very proud of my Red Raiders and know we're going to beat up on U of H this weekend!!

Texas Tech @ University of Texas

Texas Tech shirt - Red Raider Outfitter; Jeans - Express; Flower shoes - Walmart; Red belt - New York & Co.

Who wishes she was going to the game tomorrow??

THIS GIRL!

Guns up! @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

I'm not going to mouth off too much about the game tomorrow, but let's just say that I'll be hoping my Red Raiders pull out a victory similar to last year's. We don't have Graham and Crabtree, I know, but we have a secret weapon (not including Potts, of course) -- The Power of the Underdog. You put us, unranked, up against No. 2 Texas and tell us we can't win? Throw in ABC and College GameDay? Take us on after coming out of 55-10 win last week (even if it was against Rice)? I'll take that any day over last year's stats. Sure, I wish we were playing in Raiderland and not in weird ole Austin, but what can you do? If we beat them on their turf, maybe we'll get moved up the rankings like U of H did last week. Until then, Guns Up in the Heart of Texas.

Red and Purple isn't that unusual

Purple shirt - Express; Snake print pencil skirt - New York & Co; Red belt - New York & Co; Black Mary Janes - Payless

snake print skirt @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blogdeep shade of red with purple @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I love this skirt, but I wish it wasn't quite so tight or short. I think its sexy enough being snake print, and I don't need to add anymore sex appeal to it by vamping it up. That being said, last time I wore it, I wore it with a jacket and really tried to make it more professional. Today, I decided to just throw in some cleavage and heels. Screw it--it's Thursday, after all.
black Mary Janes @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
Do I look like a member of the Red Hat Society? They have ruined (or started?) the purple/red trend for everyone under 65! But I'm not scared! A older lady in my office today is wearing a red shirt and complimented the purple of mine, and then made the comment that we clashed today. I pointed out that I was wearing a red belt and she said "Yea, but its a deep shade of red, so it goes with the purple and the rest of the outfit." Guess I'm not walking the rebel color line that I thought I was...

The Power of a Cute Outfit

Green shirt--Target; Black and white skirt--TJ Maxx; Black Belt--TJ Maxx; Pink heels--Bandolino

When I woke up this morning, I was not in a good mood. But I forced myself to put on the bright outfit I'd laid out this morning, and now I'm Happy Happy Happy! You can't be depressed when you have on pink heels and a lime green shirt, I've realized. That is why I have this blog--to force me to not wear outfits like I did yesterday (ugh) and make up for those days with nice, pretty, fun ones!

watermelon colors @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I really wasn't sure this pairing was going to work (I feel a little like a watermelon) but I was determined to splash up my day a little. I've gotten some compliments today, so it must not look too bad. I know that first picture is blurry--that's the result of me trying to balance on one heel and take a picture with the difficult to shoot i-phone. Reminder: Get my real camera on board. Order tripod. Take nice pictures.

Happy Today! @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
My accents are all pink today--my scarf (which is actually ripped from a headband I used to have--can you believe me of all people do not have a solid pink scarf? but I actually like the play on patterns, as it turns out), my bracelet, my earrings, and my shoes...

Sloppy Girl

Gray shirt w/ collar and sleeves - New York & Co.; Black pants - New York & Co; Sparkly mules - Dusty's

one of my first NYCo shirts @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I'm a little embarrassed to put this post on here--I don't think I look cute today, and I feel sloppy. I woke up at 3 a.m. last night and didn't fall back asleep until at least 5. Then I overslept and sacrificed cuteness because I was driving myself to work for the first time in almost two weeks (since the accident) and didn't want to be in a hurry for that little adventure. I promise I'm wearing makeup today--just not very much of it.

sparkly mules @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog These shoes are not very comfortable (I bought them for $10 at a little store in Lubbock) but I can't bear to get rid of them. They can go with anything.

P.S. It gets worse, and I'm not taking a picture and showing it, but my hair is currently in a messy (not the cute I-did-this-intentionally messy, but the I-didn't-have-time-to-wash-my-hair messy) bun held up with a gasp! rubber band.

In knots this morning

Red sleeveless shirt--Express; Khaki skinny-leg pants--Victoria's Secret; Black w/ Silver Flats--Walmart; Earrings--Gift from Mom & Dad

I have had a crazy day today. I've been incredibly busy and migrainey and in a bad mood, so I'm lucky to get this up today. Last night I hand-washed an entire bathtub full of bras, so this outfit was based on one of my new bras (and hence, one that didn't need to be washed)--a racerback--so I wore a shirt that fits well with that type of bra. My bra straps aren't constantly slipping! (My eyes are closed in this picture because I'm embarrassed by myself for writing about my unmentionables!)

And, I may be terrible at tying bows, but I'm great at tying knots!!

Remember the day I said I was going to wear my straight-leg khaki pants with my black flats, but they had a mysterious oil streak on them? This is them! And they are sparkly and clean :)

Girly in Gray and Blue

Blue cardigan--Old Navy; Silver Camisole--New York & Co.; Jeans--Express; Gray Flats--Target;

Girly in jeans @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

Though I considered it, I decided not wear Tech stuff to work today. I will...and I'm even feeling a little left out since two of the ladies here at work are in football attire. I have a feeling my Harrell...er, Zouzalik...jersey will come onto a Friday blog post one day soon.
pretty cardigan @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
Its really rainy here this week, so I wanted something comfortable. I considered pulling out my rain boots, but don't have the right attitude today to pull them off. I opted for boot cut jeans, another piece of silk against my skin by way of a camisole that I don't think I've worn in well over a year (its spaghetti strapped and requires a strapless bra [or none at all] and the occasions where I can wear it have decreased more and more the older I get) and then an old school cardigan that I've had since high school. I love the girly and conservative detailing on the cardigan, and I really like it paired with the camisole that I usually think of as a "going out" top. The cardigan is quite fitted and hits me above my waist line, and the camisole is flowy and billowy (and siiiilky!) and they offset each other well, I think.

My goal next Friday? Not to wear these gray flats again! I feel like I've worn them several Fridays now (though I looked back and have actually only worn them on a Friday on this day!) And you know what, that was nearly a month ago! Silly, silly girl. See how much this blog is paying off?? Isn't my headband perfect! :)

I like the word SILK. Silk. Siiiiillllk.

Pink silk oxford--New York & Co.; Black vest--T.J. Maxx; Black skirt--Old Navy; Black Mary Janes--Payless; Black & Diamondy Necklace--Target

What is my defense when I don't feel like going to work? Dressing up, of course.

pink silk and black vest @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blogblack mary janes @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled BlogI bought this vest about two years ago when the trend was just breaking and it was still difficult to find them for less than $40. Now-a-days, menswear has taken the stores by storm, and its most likely on its way out of fashiondom, so vests in every color, style and shape are a dime a dozen. (That was quite a bit a cliches in one sentence, wasn't it?) I was digging at TJ Maxx with Tommy and happened to notice this vest in the junior section, size large, for only $12. I jumped on that deal, even though it wasn't exactly the style I wanted (I like the kind that dip a little lower down at the chest). But you just don't pass up a $12 trend.
lazy hairdo @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I woke up late this morning and had to sacrifice my hair in favor of a crockpot meal waiting for me at 5:00 when I get home. I almost cut off my hand in my hurry to cut up potatoes and carrots and stew meat this morning (adding new definition to the term "rustic") but I didn't, so I guess my Thursday is going better than last week's!

Tech isn't the only one who Wrecked 'Em.

Denim Jacket--Gap (via Goodwill); Brown shirt--Cato; Light blue pants--Victoria's Secret; Brown Heels--Walmart; Green Bruise--Tommy's truck.

I really, really hope bad things don't truly come in threes, because I don't think I can handle another run of bad luck at this point. You may have noticed I dropped off the face of the web for about a week there, and I wish it was because I was off vacationing for Labor Day and just didn't have the means to post. Unfortunately, its because I was involved in a car wreck Thursday morning. I'm okay, just a few sore muscles and some serious bruises (oh, and three stitches on my head) but it wasn't much fun visiting the ER for the second time in a month.

For Labor Day we went to Lubbock for two reasons: opening kickoff to see Tech whip up on North Dakota, and because I had a doctor's appointment (my insurance in regional and unfortunately, that region isn't the Houston area). My doctor's appointment went fine, and I have some nice new migraine prevention medication to fall asleep to now. The game also went fine, though if you were present for the action, it didn't look quite as pretty as the final score ended up. I don't think I'll be trading in my Graham Harrell jersey for a Potts one just yet (especially since Austin Zouzalik is now #6!!) Sorry for that cheesy title, but really, who could resist?

Now for an outfit post. As you can see, I'm not very dressy today. My goal for this morning was: (1) make it to work and (2) not get in a car wreck. Looking good was a very low number 3.

On a good note, I've lost some weight, because these pants used to be a little tight. And my necklace is vintage--from my great-grandmother.

Blue and Green, Inspired by Me!

Green shirt--Express; Navy pin-striped skirt--New York & Co; Snakeskin Belt--New York & Co; Beige heels--Bandolino

I am extremely busy at work today (which will hopefully make my day go by faaaast!) but I really needed a break from suing people for a few minutes.

Today's outfit was inspired by ME! I realized that no one ever pairs green and blue together. I was initially going to wear pink heels with this outfit, which I still think would look good, but I'm an old-fashioned girl and when I put on pants or a skirt with belt loops, I can't help but put on a belt. I threw on my old (not that old) favorite, the snakeskin from NY & Co--which I just realized that I'm not sure I've worn since I've had this blog, and is very odd since I think in my mind that I wear it ALL THE TIME. Anyway, once I put the belt on, I had to wear the matching shoes.

blue and green inspired by me @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

I think next time I'll stick with the spring green, navy blue and hot pink combination I originally wanted. The belt and shoes tie this outfit together nicely for work, but make it a little less uninspired than I wanted. I'll try this again in a few weeks, perhaps!

OHMIGOD! It has taken me almost three hours to write this post. I'm into my lunch break now putting it up (which is legitimately when I should be doing it, right!??) Anyway, trying to get everything out today that I need to because I'm leaving early to go to Lubbock tomorrow! YAAAAAAAAY friends!
