Short Over Long

Today’s outfit isn’t very creative, but I like the classic lines of it. I needed to wear pants today because I’ve been putting off some filing which requires me to sprawl very ladylike on the floor, but its still pseudo-summer temperatures outside. These pants are very light weight and very comfortable, and this shirt is the kind I always tell my mom that you can wear and feel just as relaxed and comfy as a t-shirt does, but looks a lot dressier.


It hangs just a little low on my waist, which is a perfect concealer for the slight tummy I’ve acquired since the holidays (and since my unofficial ban on the gym, apparently). I topped it with a cropped cardigan shawl that buttons at the center.

Overall, it’s a relaxed look that is perfect for a day of filing on the floor. I did throw on some heels, however, though I was tempted to wear flats since the elevator is broken…that lack of gym going is evident about the time I reach the 5th floor…but I didn’t want the outfit to be too casual. I am wearing a ponytail, after all!

Red and Purple isn't that unusual

I love this skirt, but I wish it wasn't quite so tight or short. I think its sexy enough being snake print, and I don't need to add anymore sex appeal to it by vamping it up. That being said, last time I wore it, I wore it with a jacket and really tried to make it more professional. Today, I decided to just throw in some cleavage and heels. Screw it--it's Thursday, after all.

Do I look like a member of the Red Hat Society? They have ruined (or started?) the purple/red trend for everyone under 65! But I'm not scared! A older lady in my office today is wearing a red shirt and complimented the purple of mine, and then made the comment that we clashed today. I pointed out that I was wearing a red belt and she said "Yea, but its a deep shade of red, so it goes with the purple and the rest of the outfit." Guess I'm not walking the rebel color line that I thought I was...

When I've been bored lately, I've been scanning through Kasmira's colorful blog and was inspired to throw some unusual color combinations together. I'm not nearly as talented as she is, but I can usually put some shade of pink with any other color I have and make it turn out okay. I bought this skirt a few years ago from Target and have always loved the big bold print and Pepto Bismol pink. Chugging Pepto is one of my favorite pasttimes, so it only makes sense that I would have a variety of clothing options in this color (including my belt!)

I must wear a lot of subdued colors, because its only 9:00 and I've already gotten several compliments on my outfit today. Yay!

My bangs are already "long" again, however :)

P.S. I was going to try to break out my "real" camera instead of using my phone here at work today to see how much trouble it would be to download the pictures in the morning. I'm tired of taking separate feet shots...I think it doesn't really show the whole outfit if you don't show from head to toe. Also, I'm tired of the bathroom at work being my background!! Unfortunately, when I turned my camera on this morning, it was dead, and I was running late as it was! So, maybe I'll try again tomorrow. I hate downloading pictures onto my computer though (I know, how lazy am I!?!) so I'll have to see how much patience I have!
