Yellow and Blue make Cute!

Khaki pants: Victoria's Secret, Blue and Light Blue Striped Oxford: Merona/Target, Blue dotty socks: Cato, blue loafers: Rangoni, yellow belt: Nine West/Ross

Ugh! Vacation over! I'm starting Week 2 of my new job, and still trying to adjust...still to a new house, a new town, a new job, a new state of mind. I feel my fashion bug coming back to me...albeit slowly, but its coming. I was in quite a fashion funk there for a little bit.

Normally I save khaki pants for a "dressier casual" day--like a Thursday, but this office is casual all the time. Lots of people where jeans everyday. Well, you know I'm not going to do that, but I certainly don't feel guilty in khakis on a Monday. Half the office is still out on vacation anyway!

A long time ago, I bought a mustard yellow skinny belt from Walmart. Because it was from Walmart and only $3, it broke quickly. I LOVED that belt though, because you can make mustard yellow work with almost any other color it seems! So, I have been on the lookout for a similar belt, and finally found one at Ross when we moved here...for the low low price of $8! The best part of that $8 price tag is the price cut from $32, so I expect it to last a little longer than the Walmart one did!

And look, new cutesy socks from Cato because of the cooooold front that came in! :)

Happy Day Before Thanksgiving!

Gray and pink argyle shirt: Rue 21, dark denim jeans: Express, white polo: Target, black loafers: Etienne Aigner

There isn't anything too creative about this outfit, but I'm finding myself lacking in style creativity lately. There is a girl who dresses very cutely here at work (at least she has the last three days) so I'm going to have to step it up a little starting next week. Today is only a half day here at work, and I'm going to be up and down on the floor coloring some geographical maps, so comfort was key. Its also a little chilly here (though nothing what you would normally expect for a West Texas Thanksgiving). I'm really looking forward to seeing my family and stuffing my face with Thanksgiving dressing. YUM-O!

First and second day of new job

Pink sweater: Old Navy, light blue oxford: Banana Republic (thrifted), brown pin-striped skirt: New York & Co., beige heels: Bandolino, multi-colored necklace: great-grandmother, Memaw's

This necklace is vintage: it was my great-grandmother's!
I decided it was okay to go a little dressier today. I wanted to wear a skirt, but a cold front came in last night, and I didn't want to pull out any tall boots just yet. I opted to be warm on top so I'm wearing this normally kind of itchy sweater over and oxford. I have been the perfect temperature all day!

Turquoise shirt: Ross, black pants: New York & Co, snakeprint belt: New York & Co., black open toe kitten heels: No idea

This is what I worn on the first day of work. It was a little chilly, and I had been warned that this was a "casual" office, and that jeans were the norm. Well, of course, I'm not going to wear jeans everyday, but I wanted to pick something that could balance the line between business casual and slumming in denim. :P As it turns out, lots of people were in jeans, but there were some in dress pants too, and one lady in a skirt, so I didn't--nor will I--feel out of place in a dressier outfit.

Scarf weather!

Purple shirt: Merona (Target), Denim Jeans: Victoria's Secret, Jacket: TJ Maxx (gift from Mom & Dad), black cowgirl boots: Justins, mint green scarf: Gift from Tommy

My husband told me goodbye this morning and this is what he said:

"Stay in this warm bed this morning because it is cooold outside." He was dressed in his normal suit and had his wool trenchcoat over it. When I woke up this morning (finally at 9:30), I pulled out some jeans, my own trenchcoat (granted, a light version) and a mint green scarf...because I can't say I love winter weather (I'm trying, I'm trying) but I freakin love scarf and winter clothes weather! Winter clothes are so much cuter than summer clothes. Summer is all about dressing in as little as you can and still look decent (thus the invention of the sun dress). Winter is so easy to dress up! Winter outfits always look dressier to me; I don't know if its because of all the layers of scarves, gloves, and tights, or if its because a good trenchcoat can dress up any outfit. Probably both!

Unfortunately, when I walked outside to do my errands this morning, my scarf was not really justified :( I kept it on, though!

I have been offered a job with an oil and gas company in town, and I start next Monday! I had to go today and get a pre-employment drug screen, and I have to say that the laboratory I had to go to get it done wasn't the nicest place I had been before. I was glad to have all my layers on my body! Perhaps we'll go back to cute outfits again next week!!!

Off to the doctorl

Flowered skirt: Old Navy, coral 1/2 sleeve shirt: Ann Taylor, own equestrian boots: Old Navy

Nobody likes going to the doctor, and I used to be at the very tip top of that list, but I've gotten better. One could say I was even looking forward to this visit...I look for any excuse to get dressed these days, so I pull out the Fall skirt and boots, even though the temperature here in Midland is unusually hot for Fall right now.

Last night we went to a cocktail/dinner party to "meet the judges" in Midland/Odessa, and Tommy and I dressed to the nines (ok, I guess more like the eights) but did I take a picture?? Of course not! I can't believe I didn't either, because I fit into this sleeky Calvin Klein dress that I haven't fit into in years! Silly, silly girl!

Odessa mall adventure

Blue button up short sleeve striped shirt: Express, black long sleeve V-neck: Old Navy, jeans: Express, black and silver belt: New York & Co.; black loafers: Etienne Aigner; black ball necklace: New York & Co.

mall shopping @ brittany's cleverly titled blogTommy was off for Veteran's Day today so we ventured into Odessa to check out the mall over there. Midland and Odessa are about 10 minutes apart, so they're not exactly the same town, but they are close enough to justify a trip to either one when necessary. I was pretty disappointed with the mall in Odessa (its actually worse than the mall in Midland) EXCEPT that they have an Express over there. It makes no sense that there is an Express in the Odessa mall and not to the Midland mall, and the only thing I can assume is that the Express franchise granters did not do their homework before assigning it to that mall. That being said, it was the busiest store in the mall, so what do I know? I'm still disappointed I have to drive 15 minutes to get to an Express and that the nearest New York & Co. is in Lubbock...two hours away!! :(

Job interview!

Torquoise button-up: TJ Maxx, Gray pencil skirt: New York & Co., black jacket: The Limited, black mary jane heels: Walmart

Yea for job interviews! I actually had to (got to) get up this morning at a decent hour and get in the shower and look presentable by the 9:00 hour today. I interviewed with an oil and gas company and can really see myself enjoying it there. They are interviewing a lot of people over the next two days he said though, so we shall see.

Here's my business/interview apparel:

Church-Hopping

Cardigan: Old Navy, Pink shirt: Old Navy, Layered denim skirt: Ross

I have a job interview tomorrow. I'm dying of boredom at home, but its been really lucky that I've had some time off...for health reasons, and also because I've been unpacking and having repairmen and cablemen and all kinds of people over here. However, as I've mentioned, me sitting around the house unpacking doesn't inspire me to dress up (even for the cableman). Also, I'm generally waiting around until Tommy gets off at 5:00, and then I forgot to take a picture!!

So...at least I will get to dress cute tomorrow for my interview. Today, Tommy and I began our mission to find a church in Midland. We are pretty picky about our church, so this may take a while! We weren't very comfortable at the church we went to today, so next Sunday we'll try a different one. I took a crappy picture of my outfit for now, which I'm afraid is how my outfit pics may look for awhile, since its the only mirror I have access to right now! I've worn a similar pairing of this cardigan and a pink top before, but this skirt is new. You can't see it very well, but its rough denim and layered. I'm all about comfortable girly clothes...and this one is great!
