It's Always in the Last Place You Look

Let me tell you a pathetic story.

Last week I saw that the Everybody, Everywear theme this month was polka dots.  Great, said I.  I don't really have a lot of spots at home, but knew I could come up with something.
A few days later, I remembered, and glanced in my closet.  No polka dots.  Not a one.  Seriously.  How do I have 13 striped shirts and not one polka-dotted one?

So this weekend, I did a little shopping.  And amazingly, I managed to not buy one thing.  Do you know what was included in this not buying spree?  Polka dots.  Apparently all my stores did not get the memo that polka dots are right on trend, because I couldn't find ANYTHING that I wouldn't have been buying for the sole purpose of this posting.

And that would have been sad, but I would have done it.  Possibly.  I mean, I nearly bought the purple polka-dotted cardigan I saw at Target, but it was an XXL.  I considered what it would look like belted.  You're all lucky it was still $25.

Finally I gave up, deciding I was apparently the only person on the blogosphere that didn't own something polka dotted.

And then I remembered this Express shirt, which was buried at the bottom of the laundry basket.  Which is another pathetic story all together...I'm so happy to get to play along with you all!!

  1. Really cute outfit. And finding something you already own so you can rock the trend is always a bonus!
Oh, and your alone-in-the-office-phone-beeping story made me laugh out loud!

  8. You are adorable! I'm glad you left your blog link in your comment because I've been so swamped I haven't had a chance to read any blogs all week...and I've considered using the dreaded "mark all as read" button yet again.

But I would have missed this and I'm glad I didn't! I love it!!! That belt is so stinkin' awesome! And the turquoise and red combo - I swoon. I really like how you're wearing the headband too. I can't quite master that but you look beautiful!

  9. If it makes you feel better, I don't own ONE striped shirt, and stripes are definitely more 'classic' and necessary than polka dots. Cute outfit though! xo
