What happens when you work all day on Thursday, have a meeting right after work, and then meet up with friends for a Happy Hour that turns into dinner being delivered to the Cigar Bar you're at?
You look like this on Friday:
But the good news is, its a Friday before a game, which gives me a license in my head to wear a spirited t-shirt, and I even broke out the tennis shoes today!
Limited jewerly, too!

Menswear and Heels
I'm starting to get excited about this weekend...Texas Tech vs. Texas in Lubbock on Saturday. I wish I was there right now...Raiderville has grown to 1600 students I hear (those are the kids camped out outside the stadium to ensure that they get a seat for the game), and I'm sure the Tech flags are flying.
Not to mention that I get to see all my friends!
But what should I wear? Hmm.

Mid-Week Flowers!
Look how sweet my husband is! I got in my car this morning and he had filled up my tank (I skated into the garage last night just as my gas light came on...) and left me flowers atop the center console!
My co-worker has told me all day that I remind her of Steve from Blue's Clues today (you know, if Steve wore a pencil skirt and high-heel oxfords). Well, I happen to think that Steve is a mighty fine dresser, so I'll take that as a compliment!! :)
P.S. I haven't checked my blog roll in days and days. I miss you all so much and I'm going to try to take some time to check you all out this evening!

Quick Post Tuesday!
I got a lot of compliments today on this color combination of olive greeny charcoal pants and salmon top. My mom gave me this belt off a pair of shorts she bought at Cato a while back because I was at my parents' house and had forgotten a belt...and can't stand to have my belt loops showing! Anyway, this belt tied these two colors together perfectly, and I got a ton of "I like that belts" today too...but I think what people really liked was how the belt coordinated with it all!
Bought this necklace in my hometown...so cute!

Black Friday
Not a whole lot going on with today's outfit. This aren't actually white jeans...they are my faded almost acid-wash looking denim that I like to think dragged themselves out of the late 80s. Yesterday, as you can see, I was wearing a black shirt, and my co-worker commented that all the women in our office were wearing black. Knowing that I usually brightening things up a bit, I declared that I would NOT be wearing black today! I even tried on a sleeveless black shirt last night and then remembered my vow to wear some color.
About 5 shirts later (I could not find anything I was happy with), I settled on this shirt. It wasn't until this morning that I realized...

Pink and Black and Flowers Below
I couldn't resist throwing on my Target shoe clips with this outfit! I know they look bright and perky and maybe a little silly (they CONTRAST so much with these black mary janes) but I love it!
I'm a little self-conscious in this skirt, I'll say though. This slit is a little high. I'm going to have to figure out how to sew it up perhaps. Then again, with new dress code around here, it's probably acceptable. I tried to wear something a bit covered up on top to balance it out. And there's a duel purpose for the shoe clips--they steal your vision Dooooowwwn to my feet!

Silhouette Practice
When I bought this skirt, I envisioned wearing it with the perfect combination of silky pink top to create a romantic, Victorian-esque outfit. I don't think I've done that yet, but what I did do is play with some balance and proportion with this skirt.
I first tried it on with a bright red Express mock-turtleneck top. I loved the pop of cherry red with the neutral print of the skirt, and the tightness of the shirt looked perfect with the fullness of the skirt, but it looked a bit too conservative with a high neckline and extra length.
I tried it on with an oxford, but it too looked a bit buttoned-up (pun intended). The silky teal shirt I tried on next had the right feel and contrast to it, but I really was wanted a nice tight shirt like the original red one I tried on.
Finally I settled for this low cut Express royal purple tee, with a camisole underneath for modesty's sake. I think the whole outfit is the right combination of contrasting colors, fits, and lengths. I covered up on bottom (both in length and in shape due to its full flare) and let a little skin show on top. It doesn't quite fit the Romantic feel I wanted, but I'm happy with it just the same.
I didn't post an outfit last Friday, and here's why:
I have to support my Red Raiders, and since it was only a half-day due to the holiday weekend, I went a little schlumy with a t-shirt (and even a boxy, men's t-shirt at that). A co-worker exclaimed: "You're wearing a t-shirt today!" in shock. I think I should consider that a compliment?

Back in Blue...not quite AC/DC inspired!
Man, this weekend just flew by! I went to watch my All-New Red Raiders kick some Mustang booty on Sunday, and had such a great time with old friends. I took my camera and hardly took any pictures at all, and then left my camera at home today, so these pics are pretty low quality...back to the Iphone today!
Since its the first day back from the holiday weekend, I felt like being comfortable today. You know I love the combination of two neutrals (black and beige) with the bright sparks of cobalt blue at my neck and feet! I did refrain from wearing the bright blue belt I got last weekend, though...I thought this was just enough!

Professional Plum
All this week I have felt the comings-on of some kind of cold, but have chalked it up as allergies and attempted to ignore it. Yesterday I finally gave in and took some Sudafed, and knocked myself out cold from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. this morning. I feel a lot better today!
Because I was still a bit drowsy when I got out of bed this morning though, I need to pull on something comfortable but still nice (another trip to the airport and a meeting at work today). I'm hoping this dress fit the bill, pulled together with a boyfriend blazer and some comfy flats.

Work Appropriate in Contrasting Stripes
I am so happy with this $.99 belt I thrifted this weekend. It matches perfectly with these heels. Somebody please explain to me why I haven't owned a hot pink belt before??!
This is as cheating at pattern mixing as you can get, but something about it spoke to me. I love the contrast--the skirt is navy with light blue pin stripes and the top is white with french blue stripes. I think the matching belt and shoes just pull it all together perfectly!
P.S. I bought that necklace my first day of my first trip to Las Vegas...and I came out $50, which is pretty good considering my attitude towards gambling -- why take a chance playing slots or cards with my money, when I could just go buy a lovely pair of shoes and guarantee that I'll come home with something?!

Well, I never!
The weatherman promised me rain today. Well, actually, he said "It may rain today." But I was planning on counting my chickens (before they'd hatched), taking that the bank, and making me a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
But enough of my Southern lineage talk.
The point is, its not raining. Thanks a lot. I dressed for the occasion in pants and a sweater. Which is a good thing, because its freezing in my office today.
P.S. Do you know anyone who has mineral interests in New Mexico? Because I've probably attempted to call them today. I feel like I've called the entire state!

Purple and Lace
Had a stayed-up-too-late kind of weekend so I'm trying to battle this case of the Mundays with something professional today, so I dressed it up with a pencil skirt and belted blouse. I bought this skirt over a year ago, but its really capturing the lace trend for this fall perfectly!

Feeling Silly
Have nothing too interesting to report, other than I'm very glad its Friday and I'm in a supermodelly silly mood!
Last night we went to our minor league baseball team's game for Thirsty Thursday. I got a sausage dog, a giant Blue Moon, and sweet potato fries for $7. Can't beat that!

Making my belt work for it
I'm trying to wear all my "strictly summer" clothes - the weather outside is a cool 82 degree high for today, and it is a great reminder that Fall is literally just around the corner of the calendar. I took a close up of this pattern so you could see that the skirt isn't solid yellow--its got these printed little roses engrained in the material.
I bought this wide black belt years ago at a Ross in Lubbock, Texas. Imagine the time when wide belts were just really coming back into style, and I was undecided about the "trend". I didn't want to invest in a pricier wide black belt--that was really when you still had to search for them, instead of finding them at every store at the mall. I saw this one at Ross for $10, and thought I'd buy it. I've probably worn it 4 times since then. I don't know why I haven't invested in a nicer one by now...obviously what I once thought was a passing fancy is here to stay for awhile, competing equally for the waistline with skinny belts and grosgaine ribbons!
Like my eyeshadow again today. And my hair has...volume! Nick Chavez Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner, I think you might be working! But I was also 10 minutes later for work than I intended. Why does it take so long to look beautiful? :P

Last night I was messing around with, still not really liking the way it looked on my waist, when something incredible happened...it spun slightly to the right! And I loved it! Or at least I liked it a lot better. Its just a loose (p)leather strap with a buckle on the end, so I think by throwing it off center, it gets a more playful edge to the outfit rather than the straightlaced and buckled look I was attempting by buckling it in the middle.
Funnest shoes ever...but probably not going to be very good come winter! Need to invest in some solid black flats, stat!
