Flattery works (even if it's you typing it)
I'm trying really hard to think of some positives for Monday for Hope and Melissa's challenge (they probably don't call it a "challenge" but I think its a pretty good description of it today.) So here goes:
I am smart. And clever. I put more value in being witty than actually being intelligent, as most clever people are smart, but not all smart people are clever. I like to think I'm both and I have good reason for those suspicions, as my brother and I are A LOT alike, and he is definitely sarcastic and funny and clever and smart and ironic and fun. Me too!
I think I'm going to be a great mother one day. I understand the importance of not losing yourself in the role, but I also realize that once you have a child, you are destined to sacrifice for the sake of your child. One day I'll be a mom, and that child will dictate and rule the rest of my life. Like it or not.
I have the gift of discernment. I can usually tell what people are thinking, not specifically in a psychic sort of way, but I can get a general feeling from them. I don't read auras and I can't read minds, but give me a few minutes with someone and I can usually tell you more about their personality than some of their closest acquaintances. I've been wrong before. But not that often.
I actually do feel better about myself after that little lesson in self-flattery. Thanks, Hope and Mel! :)

Blondy
Today was finally the day of the forever ago hair appointment! I woke up at 5:50 a.m., threw on a hat, and went to go get my hair "did."
Proof:
I am now a refreshing, crisp blonde again...without split ends!
A little bit of honesty here...I've been feeling extra tired and busy lately, and I haven't had just a whole ton of motivation for blogging. I'm still sloughing (is that word?) through it in hopes that it will pass. I go through these crazy stages where one minute I'm like, "Ok, total revamp for the blog" and other times when I think, "What would anybody even want to hear me say?"
I'm convinced it has to do with this crazy weather. I can not WAIT until Summer. Everyone is happier in the Summer!
P.S. This shirt is actually NOT psychedelic. Its just teal green with open polka dots on it. Funny how it comes across in the pictures, though!
P.S.S. Last week to Wear Red for Women! Are you sad?? :)

Oh, I'll Lift Your Spirits...
I took five deep breaths, and considered setting my Iphone alarm for five minutes to rearrange my desk, but decided that was too much effort (5 minutes probably wouldn't cut it).
I went into the kitchen to have a spoonful of peanut butter (walk away from your desk, stretch, and have a healthy snack) but the Coke delivery man was blocking the spoons and tempting me with his high fructose corn syrup.
I even laughed out loud to myself in the bathroom, but my coworker walked in at that exact second and is probably still wondering if she should warn the building that I might be cracking up...and not in the good, stress relieving way.
So I decided the most therapeutic thing to do would be to type my blog for the day. I've only got 3 minutes until lunchtime anyway.
I guess its working! Better than that crazy "go workout" advice, anyway! :)
P.S. Blood-work sucks. And not in the good vampire kind of way...

New Shirt (?)
Have I mentioned I'm ready for Summer?
I should be really glad its not quite swimsuit season yet though, cause I really need to get back to the gym with at least a few weeks to spare. Too much pizza and all!
I have a secret. This blue shirt is actually a DRESS! Shhhh.

Domino's and Diet Dr. Pepper
Want to know where a holiday gets you around here?
Working through Lunch!
But at least its been a very productive morning! There was not one thing productive about
my LONG weekend!
And at least I have Domino's to get me through.

Pink and Red Still Count
I feel like I'm kind of cheating wearing this shirt as my "red" outfit, mainly because I wore it last October as a "pink" outfit, but whatever. I mean shirts can be two colors, you know? Well, they can. Just like grape and pickle snow cones and cars you have to replace the hoods on.
I gave a shoutout to Academichic for their innovative jewelry tricks, and I'm using one again today:
I took this little white necklace and turned into a drapy necklace, a la flower and all. A little more red coming at you too!
1. Take a little necklace.
2. Attach a chain to the ends of the necklace.
3. Cover up the lengthening chain with a giant red flower.
Jewelry Jenius!
Or...Gewelry Genius!

Sparkly Smile
This morning when I woke up, I had no idea that today at 3:15 I'd be sitting in a dentist's chair.
It's a good thing I didn't know that, or I wouldn't have gotten any sleep last night.
The worst part about chipping your tooth at lunch (on stew! How does that happen!!) is knowing that it just felt a little funny for the past few weeks, but ignoring it instead of being proactive and making a dentist appointment before something happened.
And the absolutely worst thing about going to an impromptu emergency dental appointment in the middle of the day...finding out its not a true emergency and having to reschedule for two weeks from today. But at least I got a free teeth cleaning!

A Party in a Cup
Every single time I wear this shirt, somebody makes a Mad Men reference. I don't know if it's because it reminds me of Joan Holloway too (though its more of Peggy color) so I pair it with slender skirts like she would, or if its just that special cut that flatters when universally. Whatever it is, I'll take the compliment!
On a different note, is there anything in the world that feels more like Summertime than a Ocean Water from Sonic? Ok, so maybe an Ocean Water with a dash (or two) of rum, next to my lounge chair by the pool in the middle of July...that probably feels a little more like Summer, but right now I'm so desperate I'll accept a plain one next to a Kid's Meal at my desk here at work.
P.S. Oh yea, that title is a Jersey Shore reference. Yup.

Androgynous Me
Special mention to the fabulous Academichic for their brilliant ideas on how to remix your jewelry. I took a page directly from their book and attached some earrings to a chain...and voila! a brand new necklace!!

Positively Positve on Valentine's Day!
Happy Valentine's Day to you all!!
My positives this morning:
1. I must have pretty good taste in men. I won the Valentine's Day contest (or maybe I should say that my husband won) because my flowers arrived first at work this morning. The Husband said he ordered them a week and a half ago, which must be how much in advance you have to order them for them to show up at 9:30 a.m.!
2. I like that I finally know how to fix my own hair. Throughout high school and college I struggled with "flat hair syndrome", which basically means that my hair is stick straight and doesn't hold a curl for anything. I've since learned that that's not necessarily true, and with a little bit of the right products and accessories, voluminous hair is possible for someone like me!
3. I really like the fact that I'm getting braver about wearing high heels. I've never been much of a "shoe person" because someone who is six feet tall can't really get away with wearing three inch heels...especially when The Husband is already a bit shorter than me. But here at work, I've embraced heels. This goes back to last week's post a little bit about being confident in my height. I don't care if I'm taller than all of you. My legs are longer, too :P
And in regard to this post, of course I had to wear pink! I'm saving my bits of red for Fridays this month, but don't you worry, I have plenty of pink! Proof positive here!! :) Man, this is a "link-y" post, isn't it!!
