Short Skirt
I think this skirt might be a little too short for work. But it looks like a pencil skirt and has a conservative pinstripe, and most importantly, I wanted to show off my tan, so I wore it anyway. Plus my boss is out of town and will never know.
Except that I have published it online.
Sometimes this blog ain't all it's cracked up to be.

His Advice
I was trying on outfits last night while The Husband was getting ready to go to the gym.
I had these white pants on, and was tugging tops on and off, flipping through accessories and trying on shoes. I had a vision of these white pants and a blousy top, belted at the waist with a brown belt...but I wanted to wear these (black) shoes, too. (I'm all for breaking rules, but my southern roots tell me this may have been a bit...tacky.)
I was struggling with this problem and was looking unhappily in the mirror when The Husband said, "You know, you don't always have to be trendy and different. You could just wear that without a belt, and it looks pretty."
So, dear Husband, I'm wearing this outfit straight up, long in the pants, loose in the waist, and completely normal and pretty. :)

Who's Dope?
My coworker and I photographed in an abandoned parking garage. I know it's abandoned for three reasons: there were no cars around, there were no buildings around that were necessary to park at, and the graffiti on the wall.
LL asked if I cared that it proclaimed "Dope!" proudly on the wall. It took me a few seconds before I realized they meant drugs, and not the slang word for "cool." I'm pretty sure I dated myself with that comment.
I'm also pretty sure there's a new slang word for "cool." Yea, I'm getting old.

Windy Days and Windy Nights
Then reality hit me as I came out of my grogginess a little more and remembered that I don't live in Houston any longer. We just don't get hurricanes in West Texas.
What we DO get is crazy torential winds. And something the natives like to call "Texas Weather." I spent my entire Saturday at a friend's pool with a margarita in hand, and today we're barely topping 50 degrees.
Thus, this girl could barely get out of bed and put on jeans and sweater. And this is what you get.
Weekend bonus picture. After one (or two) too many Coronaritas...the lovely Ms. KL and me:

Can I Get a Woot Woot?
My coworker goes to Miami and all I get is this ring...just kidding.
Normally I'd think its too obvious to wear an OWL shirt (even if it is the coolest owl ever) and an OWL ring, but I appreciate the irony of wearing both today.
Happy hour lasted a little too long last night, so you get to see me in all my t-shirted glory today. Nice!

Mastery of the English Language
Please pardon my bulging belt.
My 9th grade English teacher would have been very impressed with that sentence. Look at all that alliteration. That's right, Ms. Park, I remember that word.
Anyway, back to the belt that stretched around my waist like an athlete before the big race.
I ate too much Texas barbeque today. And the peach cobbler was self-serve. Wonder why they bother putting all those peaches in there, anyway?
I may need to do some more of these stairs so my skirt isn't quite so tight.

Vintage Leopard and Silk
My mother once threw this shirt in the trash.
It was my grandmother's when she was my age, and I wore it as a nightgown, and thought I was just the prettiest 8 year old in my town, and possibly the State of Texas.
My mother disagreed.
I dug it out of the trash and have had it ever since.
This is how I do my part in the recycling effort.
P.S. Have a review of this post to remember if this is CHEETAH or LEOPARD print!

All that AND a bowl of soup
Today my coworkers and I went to a little cafe that serves soups and salads. Everyone else got the soup and sandwich combo, but I decided I was especially hungry. I ordered the bowl of chicken (enchilada) soup and a salad.
"Would you like the cup of soup and salad combo?" our waitress asked helpfully.
I oinked, "No, I think I want more than the cup."
"So a full order of each?"
"Yes, please," stated I, confident that I was making the right choice. Boy, would my coworkers be sorry when their tiny cup of soup and measly half sandwich came out.
"Ohhhkay."
Of course, the two separate bowls of soup and salad she brought me were gigantic. I'm not kidding. There was at least a quart of soup in there, with garlic bread, and my salad was piled high in a similar bowl.
Moral of this story? When your waitress looks at you like you're a cow, maybe you should listen to her opinion. Also, there are starving children in Africa.
OF COURSE I ate my entire meal. Who do you think I am?
