Denim and Black

Pulled a photo out of my "Inspiration Book" last night -- the woman was wearing a white tee, a short black skirt, a denim jacket with the sleeves rolled up, and a statement necklace in silver.  I've been freezing at work lately, so I figured a denim jacket was the perfect solution to that, and this morning I just WAS NOT in the mood to wear a skirt, so I broke out some pants.  I originally was going to wear this white tee untucked to give the layering some contrast in length, but I was just drawn to the clean line of the tab buckle on the pants (I tried to lighten up the second picture so you can see what I mean).  I also wanted to add a little color with this necklace (and I've vowed to attempt to wear it more anyway!)

I'm not happy and not unhappy with the shoes.  I've been working out and attempting to play tennis again lately, and am feeling the results in my muscles, and just couldn't handle a pair of heels today!

Thursdays Were Made for Yellow

YELLOW SWEATER: NY&CO., WHITE UNDERSHIRT: HANES, BLACK PANTS: NY&CO., BLACK HEELS: PAYLESS, SCARF: FROM SHIRT (TARGET)

Its rainy and muggy today, and only in the 80s.  My office has been freezing this week, so I feel like I'm dressed for winter, but this sweater is thin enough to justify it being worn in the dead of summer.  My outfit was a little boring this morning, so I threw on this silk scarf to dress it up just a little.

IN STRIPES

GOLD AND WHITE STRIPED SHIRT: V'S SECRET, VIA KIMBERLY
JEANS: EXPRESS
BROWN FLATS: CATO
OWL: CHARLOTTE RUSSE

I'm off for the rest of the day today!  Thank goodness, because I'm in a grumpy mood and don't think I would have been pleasant to be around for the afternoon!  Today I threw on a warm (its cold in my office) shirt from Kimberly, and an owl around my neck.  Can't beat that on a half-day Friday!

A La Chanel...with a little Glee

white tee: Hanes (Ross), gray wide-leg trousers: NY&Co., black and white cropped jacket: Cato, mary janes: Payless, sweater clip: homemade

The Outfit Inspiration Calendar told me to wear Chanel inspired pieces today in blacks, whites and grays.  It took everything I had not to add some color to this, but I wanted to keep in Coco.

Last night's episode of Glee made me want a sweater clip all over again (Thanks, Emma/Jayma Mays.)  She was wearing a gold sweater clip with a gold bow on one side...that reminded me of this necklace of mine.  And I thought....I can do that!

Here's my attempt, and I have to admit, I'm really loving it!

This is the necklace normally.

Rocking the Topsiders

yellow sweater: NY&Co., white v-neck: Hanes, jeans: Victoria's Secret, snakeskin belt: NY&Co., Sperry's: DSW

My family is visiting me this weekend!  They haven't been to see me since we moved to this town, so I'm anxious for them to check it out.  My mom, dad, grandmother, and two cousins should be here by 8 tonight.

Still trying to plan a menu for the weekend.  Grocery store run for the husband and me after work...followed by a tornado clean up of the house!

P.S.  My neck isn't really that red, I promise!!
