Eek! Lots of bright colors this way!

yellow t-shirt: Old Navy, pink t-shirt: Old Navy, red flower: flower off of thrifted jacket, red belt: NY&Co., denim trouser jeans: Express, black flats: Walmart

Today I was in the mood to do a little color mixing.  Even though I feel extra casual today in two t-shirts and jeans, I don't mind because its turning into a beautiful (albeit, a little windy) day outside.  I'm glad I'm wearing bright colors in the spirit of my pseudo-spring temperatures.

Close-up:

This is not the first time I've mixed red and pink together, or mustard and red, but it is the first time I've attempted all three together.  I think it works, but honestly, I feel like its fun and casual, so I don't really care...which I think is a definite sign that it "works" for me!

AND, I'm even wearing a bright shiny piece of Christianity (its my ironic cross) to add a little more sparkle, as if the colors themselves weren't enough!! :)

Blog Resolutions

yellow v-neck shirt: Express, cream undershirt: New York & Co., red belt: New York & Co., houndstooth blazer: New York & Co. (I'm sensing a pattern), denim jeans: Express, red and black shoes: Target

I have three goals, or resolutions, if you will, for my blog this year.

1. I'm going to try to be more social on here. I don't have many followers, but I know that's because I don't go out and seek any. I hardly follow anyone on here either, which makes my exposure very limited. My Flickr account is hit often, so I'd like to gather a few more followers on my blog, as well.

2. I'm going to try to wear an outfit a week that doesn't have one piece of clothing from New York & Co. If this blog has taught me anything about my retail patterns, its that I shop at NY&Co. a lot. This may not seem like much of a challenge, but it will be, because the majority of my closet is NY&Co. I just love their pieces, I like their prices normally, and they have the BEST coupons imagineable to help me take advantage of it all! However, this goal should be a little easier to meet this year since the nearest NY&Co to me is TWO HOURS AWAY!! EEEkkkk!!

3. I'm tired of taking pics with my iPhone. They aren't very good quality and I realize that, but my computer at home is dying. I'm going to have to take over the hubby's laptop for my extracurricular blogging activities. Taking pictures with my camera at home requires me to wake up earlier, too, so that I have time to take the pictures and then upload them and at least email them to myself for editing later. This is a long-term, just by the end of the year goal that I plan on concentrating on over a period of time.

The high today is 30, but I didn't even bring a coat to work with me. This houndstooth blazer is quite warm, despite the 3/4 sleeves on it. The socks I'm wearing with these shoes are keeping my toes toasty, too. I love the ketchup and mustard combination of the yellow shirt and red belt, too, and that the black and white in the jacket help downplay the bright color combination and make it work friendly.

Red shoes to match! :)

More InStyle for you

jeans: New York & Co., white oxford: New York & Co., red belt: New York & Co., black cowboy boots: Justin's; purple feather earrings: Aldo

Today's outfit is inspired by Eva Longoria's cool casual look on the cover of The New Secrets of Style. I usually like these jeans a lot in a cool 80s kind of stonewashed denim thing, but I didn't love it with the white oxford. I'd like a little more contrast in my top and bottom.

The good thing about pale colors...what better palette to show off purple feather earrings? Love it!

Dressing for hot...and cold

Leopard print mock turtleneck: Express, khaki wide-leg pants: Victoria's Secret, Cognac boots: X-Appeal, Red belt: New York & Co, Jacket: Cato

leopard print @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled BlogToday I had to dress suitably for Houston weather, plane-flying, and Lubbock weather. I'm flying to Lubbock tonight, where a cold front is coming in and its supposed to drop to 50 degrees. Currently in Sugar Land, Texas, according to weather.com, its 89 degrees, but feels like 98 degrees here. So, you can see the dressing dilemma!

cool jacket @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog Is this leopard print or cheetah print? As I've said, I love these mock turtleneck shirts from Express. They manage to make a cotton t-shirt type shirt appear dressy. I feel a little sassy today in my boots, animal print shirt, and super cool jacket. Love this freaking jacket.

Double Dose of Pink

Pink dolman sleeve shirt: New York & Co; Skinny Jeans: Express; Red belt: New York & Co; Necklace: 10/20 Boutique; Boots: Old Navy

My day started off incredibly boring, and has now become insanely busy. I'm at a stopping point right now, though, so I wanted to put this up.

I'm so excited that I took the time to read my shirt definitions and know that this shirt sleeve is a called a Dolman Sleeve. It means that the armhole is very wide and the wrist is skinny.

I jumped all over the Equestrian boot trend from last season because, as I've mentioned, I'm quite tall, and these boots are flat. I was going to buy a really expensive pair, but fell in love with this $45 pair I found at Old Navy, of all places.

And now, a special post--for most of this week I haven't been taking my own pictures. I want to post on Wardrobe Remix which requires that you show your whole outfit--including your shoes--and you know that's been a problem for me in the bathroom mirror! My lovely co-worker Jennifer volunteered (okay, it may not have been so much voluntary on her part so much as me saying, "Hey, you have a hand! Take a picture of me!!") And since we're both in pink today, its the perfect time to show her lovely face:

Texas Tech @ University of Texas

Texas Tech shirt - Red Raider Outfitter; Jeans - Express; Flower shoes - Walmart; Red belt - New York & Co.

Who wishes she was going to the game tomorrow??

THIS GIRL!

Guns up! @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog

I'm not going to mouth off too much about the game tomorrow, but let's just say that I'll be hoping my Red Raiders pull out a victory similar to last year's. We don't have Graham and Crabtree, I know, but we have a secret weapon (not including Potts, of course) -- The Power of the Underdog. You put us, unranked, up against No. 2 Texas and tell us we can't win? Throw in ABC and College GameDay? Take us on after coming out of 55-10 win last week (even if it was against Rice)? I'll take that any day over last year's stats. Sure, I wish we were playing in Raiderland and not in weird ole Austin, but what can you do? If we beat them on their turf, maybe we'll get moved up the rankings like U of H did last week. Until then, Guns Up in the Heart of Texas.

Red and Purple isn't that unusual

Purple shirt - Express; Snake print pencil skirt - New York & Co; Red belt - New York & Co; Black Mary Janes - Payless

snake print skirt @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blogdeep shade of red with purple @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
I love this skirt, but I wish it wasn't quite so tight or short. I think its sexy enough being snake print, and I don't need to add anymore sex appeal to it by vamping it up. That being said, last time I wore it, I wore it with a jacket and really tried to make it more professional. Today, I decided to just throw in some cleavage and heels. Screw it--it's Thursday, after all.
black Mary Janes @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
Do I look like a member of the Red Hat Society? They have ruined (or started?) the purple/red trend for everyone under 65! But I'm not scared! A older lady in my office today is wearing a red shirt and complimented the purple of mine, and then made the comment that we clashed today. I pointed out that I was wearing a red belt and she said "Yea, but its a deep shade of red, so it goes with the purple and the rest of the outfit." Guess I'm not walking the rebel color line that I thought I was...

Sperry Love!

Shirt--Cato; Jeans--Express; Shoes--Sperry Topsiders; Belt--New York & Co.; Necklace--10-20 Boutique?

modern day cowgirl @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
Very busy at work today, and I'm most likely leaving early, so I wanted to get this up while I could. I bought this shirt at Cato last weekend, and I love the "cowgirl" feel of it. I was going to wear my riding boots with it and the Houston heat be damned, but then I remembered that its been weeks since I've worn my Sperrys, and I pulled them out. I haven't worn them with jeans yet, and they looked better than I expected. Love them!!

I can't remember where I got this necklace, but I do know that it was like $2. (It may have been 10-20 in Lubbock.) A while back I fell in love with this bird necklace from Jeep Collins, but I just couldn't see myself paying $80 for it. This is my version of it! I've worn this necklace a lot, though, so that $80 price tag might be justified now.

I'll end with a quote to remind myself that it never hurts to look cute. If anyone knew the power of dressing up and moving up, it was Ms. Coco Chanel.

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little--if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny." --Coco Chanel
