2 Posts: Shopping Saturday and Back-to-Work Tuesday

SATURDAY:  shimmery shorts: NY&Co., white oxford: NY&Co., black sandles: Cato, black tab belt: NY&Co.

This weekend, the husband and I spent our Memorial Day holiday in Dallas.  His brother lives there, and most of my time was spent relaxing by their pool and soaking in the Dallas sun, but Saturday afternoon my sister-in-law and I did some shopping at the Allen Outlets.  It was insane..both in a good way (40% off sales) and a bad way (tons of people!).  I wanted to wear something cute and comfortable.  I expect to see this outfit on myself again this summer!

TUESDAY:  flowy top: NY&Co., jeans: Old Navy, nautical sandles: Ross, butterfly clip: Charlotte Russe

I didn't get back in time to see the Outfit Inspiration Calendar beginning today, so I'm not dressed appropriately for it.  I am comfortable today though, which is necessary on the first day back after a long weekend.  I'm getting my hair cut tonight at a new place, too, and I fit in with the West Texas vibe around here!

Being Preppy: Crisp White Shirt, Scarf & Loafers

white oxford: NY&Co., high-waisted jeans: NY&Co., loafers: Etienne Aigner, scarf: used to be attached to a headband

I had a little fashion meltdown last night, which I haven't had in a while.  All my jeans felt too short, or too tight, or too big...I'm unhappy with my bras right now...I didn't think I had any clothes.

Finally, I took a deep breath, referred back to the Outfit Inspiration Calendar, and decided yes, I do have clothes.

So, I'm wearing the outfit to a "t"...because the creativity in this closet was a bit limited last night!

Suspender-Less

Fuschia vest: Express, black and white shirt: NY&Co., jeans: Express, black loafers: Etienne Aigner (DSW), Tie: French Toast

I have been wanting to try a pair of suspenders for ages now, but not enough to spend a lot of dough on them or to even put much effort into finding a pair.  I was regretting that laziness today when the Outfit Inspiration Calendar called for Suspenders!  Alas, I had to stick with my "Blair" tie, which I think pretty much adds the same amount of nerdy prep that a pair of suspenders would :)

Does anyone have any big plans for the weekend?  I'm looking forward to some SERIOUS pool time...and there may even be a fruity Sonic drink in there somewhere, too :)

Dressing inappropriately for a friend's house :)

turquoise tank: Old Navy, white oxford: NY&Co., black skirt: Express

We're having dinner/drinks at a friend's house right now, and I realized that I needed to get a picture of my outfit tonight to post.  Generally my weekend outfits are pretty basic--jeans and whatever top I feel like wearing, but my husband promised me a "night out" tonight, so I dressed it up a little.

We're about to head downtown (downtown Midland, that is) to try a new bar--The Mahogany.  I'll let you know the consensus.  Don't worry, we're taking a cab!

More InStyle for you

jeans: New York & Co., white oxford: New York & Co., red belt: New York & Co., black cowboy boots: Justin's; purple feather earrings: Aldo

Today's outfit is inspired by Eva Longoria's cool casual look on the cover of The New Secrets of Style. I usually like these jeans a lot in a cool 80s kind of stonewashed denim thing, but I didn't love it with the white oxford. I'd like a little more contrast in my top and bottom.

The good thing about pale colors...what better palette to show off purple feather earrings? Love it!

No coffee!!

Oxford--New York & Co.; Pants--New York & Co; Belt--Walmart; Shoes--Merona (Target)

As of right now, I'm working on no caffeine whatsoever. Jennifer and I attempted to make coffee this morning in the office coffee pot, but it overflowed with water as it was brewing. It was quite exciting to unplug an overflowing coffeepot. We then dragged out the "backup" coffeepot in the closet, remade coffee, and waited anxiously while it brewed...cold coffee. Luckily, Cristina lives right down the road and has gone to get her super-pot that she says we can only have for today and tomorrow. Is it better to have loved and lost great coffee, or just stick with reheating the cold brew in the microwave until we can replace the original pot with an equally cheap one?
blue pants @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled Blog
My outfit was inspired by Gina Gershon in the final episode of HBO's Eastbound and Down which Tommy and I rented last night. I can't find a good image shot of her, so here is the video clip of the scene she is in where she spoofs that guy from Flipping Out.

silver belt @ Brittany's Cleverly Titled BlogAnyway, that's where the inspiration came from at least...and the only things that I kept from it were the white oxford and the silver skinny belt. Oddly enough though, I've never worn this belt with pants like this--I usually save it to loop loosely around a skirt or dress. So it was fun to wear it in a new way. When I first bought this belt, it was huge and I had to do some handiwork on it, some I proud that I was able to make it fit properly.

I'm wearing my knock-off Tiffany's necklace to bring out the silver, and gray flats. These pants really look best with flats, as they aren't Victoria's Secret 36" inseams!
